For more than 25 years, Robert Goldfarb has shaped the direction of Cornell University through his service to some of its most influential organizations and efforts. Bob served three terms on the Cornell University Council and held leadership roles in a number of its committees, with a special interest in those relating to undergraduate admissions and financial aid.

Bob's many contributions to Cornell were recognized when he was selected as a 2007 recipient of the Frank H. T. Rhodes Exemplary Alumni Service Award. The award is given in recognition of extraordinary service to Cornell, in both length and quality of contribution by the individual, through activities within the broad spectrum of Cornell's various alumni organizations, associations, and related groups.

Bob was a guest of honor at a dinner on October 12, 2007, during Homecoming Weekend, where he  received his award and graciously offered his appreciation. Bob was accompanied by his wife Frankie. Also attending were classmates Marcia Goldschlager Epstein, Carolyn Chauncey Neuman and Bruce Wagner.

Previous '64 awardees include Nancy Taylor Butler, Marcia Goldschlager Epstein, Emmett W. (Mac) MacCorkle III and Carol Britton MacCorkle. While gathering Rhodes Awards is not a competition, only one Cornell class has more awardees than our class -- the class of 1953, with eight.

Bob has devoted a significant part of time and skill to the College of Arts and Sciences, serving on the college's advisory council for 13 years and as its chair for five years. He has also influenced the college's financial well-being, serving for four years as co-chair of its campaign committee and participating in the music campaign one year later.

Bob has also led the Class of '64 to greater heights as a class council member, Cornell Annual Fund representative, and Major Gifts Committee co-chair for its 25th and 30th Reunion Campaigns. During Cornell's last campaign Bob led committees for major gifts, special gifts, and student aid.

He also has been an active leader in the Cornell Club of Greater Hartford and the Real Estate Council.
